Mary Mary Mary

so much for doing these things daily, huh?

It's not that I have anything better to do, my dearest bloggers,
but unfortunately the things I've been preoccupied with have been more or less vital.
Essays & all that year end class stuff, ya know?

If you're in high school or college, you know what I'm talking about.

But anyways!
We've had multiple open houses, and even a showing today--so the house selling is doing great!
Initially, our Realtor told us to bury a virgin Mary upside down in our yard
---well that's a little weird for us, being Mormon and all...
But I was getting desperate! We hadn't had any offers or showings even, and so I asked my mother if my dead Catholic grandmother had any crazy traditions to help sell a house. Mother thought for a bit, then walked over to Gramma's china cabinet, pulled out a tall white candle, robed in some cheap red-stained glass, cross imprint and everything.
I was looking at her sideways until she told me that when she was younger, her mother told her "to light this candle and place it in your windowsill--then all of your [reasonable] wishes and desires will come true."

--sounds pretty wacky, right? My Gramma's been off her rocker ever since I can remember, but I gave it a try anyways. What did I have to lose? --well other than the possibility of my house burning down--but I ignored that dark thought and lit the candle.

Not half an hour later, Mrs. Louise Johnson [Realtor] called and said that during one of the open houses, some lady thought our house was wonderful, and wanted to bring her husband along this time. --What are the odds!?

Looks like all the insane people turn out to be the most brilliant ones.

Thank you, dead Grand-ma! Love you!

Keep the peace!

Larissa Mormon!

  1. Wow that's crazy! Do you think it was coincidence or that the candle actually influenced the call?

  2. I believe very strongly in superstition--therefore, I blame the candle. :D
